Convergent Leadership - Panel Discussion


We're proud to partner our Athlete-ID program with the Convergent Leadership: The Military and Athletes today at Boston College

The panel discussion will cover different perspectives on leadership and athletics as well as the synergies and commonalities between them. Topics covered will be leadership, teamwork and overcoming adversity. The panelists will discuss what they’ve learned in their experiences and how they have gone about utilizing the skills learned in the military or athletics to aid in their careers and life. This event is a BCVAN/Athletics partnership, sponsored by IMG Learfield, and will be hosted and moderated by BC Athletics.

Mike Gambino

Mike Gambino, a 1999 Boston College graduate, was named head baseball coach on July 19, 2010. He brought the Eagles to the program’s first NCAA Tournament in seven years in 2016 and back-to-back Atlantic Coast Conference Championship appearances. Since 2016, BC has appeared in three out of four ACC tournaments for the first time since joining the league in 2006.

Dave Dauphinais

Dave played on the last Varsity Lacrosse team at Boston College before graduating in 2005 with a degree in history and geophysics. He was in ROTC as an undergraduate and went on to serve 10 years as a Navy SEAL, conducting five combat deployments overseas from 2005 to 2015. Dave left active duty and went to graduate school at Harvard and Dartmouth and currently works as a Management Consultant for McKinsey & Company in Boston.


Erin (Flaherty) Shea

Erin Shea is an Air Force veteran and graduated from BC in 2010 from the Connell School of Nursing. She was a 2 year Captain on the Women's Rowing Team through 2011 where she used her fifth year of eligibility to continue rowing for BC and complete her Masters degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She commissioned with the Air Force in 2011 through the Health Professions Scholarship Program and served for 3 years on Active Duty as a Primary Care Manager at MacDill AFB, FL where she promoted to the rank of Captain and competed on the All Air Force Volleyball team in the 2015 Armed Forces Tournament. She separated from Active Duty in 2015 to return to Boston College for her PhD in Nursing which she completed in 2019. She currently works as a Primary Care Provider in the VA Boston Healthcare System
